The process of installing a ledger was repeated for the large deck. Here, the first half of the large ledger is installed to the house with carriage bolts. |

While Jen was installing the joist hangers, Scott worked on installing the main beam. He started by fastening these post bases to the concrete piers. These bases hold the posts up from the concrete, not allowing it to make contact, absorb water, and therefore rot. |

Once all the posts were installed, 2x10's were installed on each side to create the support beam. |

Afterwards, the excess height was cut off of the posts. |
