In order to attach the ledger boards to the areas of the house where no wood was present behind the brick veneer to attach to, holes were drilled 9 inches deep in order to anchor lag screws to the concrete.

Shown at the right is an example of the anchors inserted into the holes to allow the lag screws to hold in the concrete.

The ledger for the small deck was attached first, which then allowed the complete framing of the small deck.

Here, Scott sits on the small deck after the framing was completed and the decking attached.
